The United States Census Bureau estimates that the population of Arkansas in 2004 was approximately 2,752,629. The table above ranks the states by per capita energy consumption in 2004. In 2004 Arkansas had the 13th highest energy consumption per capita in the nation. The state's total consumption was 1,136 trillion Btu, with per capita consumption of 413.5 million Btu. National per capita consumption was 341.5 million Btu with a total consumption of 99,812 trillion Btu. Arkansas energy consumption in 2004 was only about one percent of the total national consumption.
