The table lists the states in descending order according to their 2006 oil production total. Arkansas ranks 16th on this list, but produces far less oil than the top ten oil producers in the nation. It is also important to notice that the top three oil producing states, Texas, Alaska, and California, along with federal offshore wells made up 75 percent of the total production for the United States.
