Energy Data Reports Preface

Act 7 of 1981 directed the Arkansas Energy Office to compile an energy profile for the State to include consumption, supply, and costs for renewable and non-renewable energy resources. The 1993 Energy Data Profile (EDP) was the first attempt at publishing a comprehensive picture of energy production and usage in Arkansas. The Center for Business and Economic Research was commissioned by the Energy Office to compile the 2007 EDP for the state. The Center for Business and Economic Research will update the EDP for Arkansas improving both the presentation of the data and the usability of the document. The 2007 Arkansas Energy Data Profile includes data collected from a variety of sources through the spring and summer of 2007, and will reflect the most current data available at that time. Most of the data sets used to compile this profile included data from 1970 to 2004.

The presentation of the report has been improved in a two-fold manner. This paper document which can be printed has been formatted using Adobe Creative Suite and carries with it a significant ease of readability. Tables and figures have been presented neatly with appropriate analysis where necessary.

The second form of presentation has taken on a novel approach. Aided by the software Crystal Xcelsius, we were able to produce an interactive copy of the paper document. This interactive version of the report features clickable tables and graphs with access to the real data behind them.
