1970-2004 Arkansas Electric Power Consumption by Sector
Note: This chart does not include electric generation, transmission, and distribution losses
Source: Energy Information Administration
The figure documents the consumption of electricity by each of the three economic sectors. Consumption of electricity has exhibited an upward trend and this graph demonstrates an acceleration of this trend since the mid 1980's. Most of the increase in electricity consumption can be attributed to the industrial sector's greater reliance on electric power. From 1984 to 2004, industrial electric power consumption has grown 66 percent whereas residential electric power consumption has grown 75 percent and commercial electric power consumption has grown 88 percent.
