2004 Arkansas Electric Power Sector Consumption by Fuel Type
Source: Energy Information Administration
This figure documents the actual fuel consumed in the state of Arkansas by the electric power sector in 2004. The data summarized in the figure on page 39 are fundamentally different than nameplate capacity in that they include the actual energy consumed by the entire electric power sector, including all generating utilities and industries, as defined by the Energy Information Administration. In 2004 coal made up 51.6 percent of the energy consumed in the generation and transmission of electricity. While nuclear fuel only accounted for approximately 12 percent of capacity, in 2004 it made up 32 percent of the energy consumed by the electric power sector.
