1970-2004 Arkansas Energy Consumption by Sector
Source: Energy Information Administration
The figure above breaks down energy consumption by economic sector. The industrial sector has historically been the leader in energy consumption. The consumption gap between the industrial sector and the other sectors increased during the period of economic expansion in the 1990s. The industrial sector currently consumes almost twice as much energy as the next leading consumer, the transportation sector. It is also important to notice that the state has not seen much volatility in the consumption trends of the residential, commercial, and transportation sectors.
