Click here to register for the September 30th Arkansas Economic Issues Breakfast!
The Center for Business and Economic Research is proud to announce the inaugural Arkansas Economic Issues Breakfast Series event to be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 7 am to 9 am in the Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development on the University of Arkansas campus. This learning and networking opportunity is the result of collaboration between seven higher education institutions in Arkansas and an understanding that Arkansas citizens must leverage their resources to compete successfully in the global economy.
The Arkansas Economic Issues Breakfast Series is designed to encourage economic development in Arkansas through the dissemination of high quality information and analysis to business, community, and government leaders. The event links people from across Arkansas via videoconferencing technology and provides an interactive setting for learning about the latest economic trends that affect businesses in Arkansas. The videoconferencing will be hosted simultaneously at venues in seven locations across the state.
Governor Beebe will make a few comments to open the breakfast series (please find attached a letter of invitation to the event from the Governor). A panel discussion will follow, featuring three Arkansas economic experts: Kathy Deck, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, Michael Pakko, IEA Chief Economist and State Economic Forecaster, and Alan McVey, Executive Director of the Delta Center for Economic Development at Arkansas State University. The panel discussion will be facilitated by videoconferencing technology, but then the conversation turns local. Kathy Deck will present economic data and trends for Northwest Arkansas, while facilitators in the other six locations will do the same for their regions. The information from each event will be synthesized for all statewide participants so that common goals can be sought and common obstacles faced together.
The series is coordinated by the Institute for Economic Advancement (IEA) at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in cooperation with the Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Arkansas, the Delta Center for Economic Development at Arkansas State University, the Economic Research and Development Center at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, the College of Business at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and Southern Arkansas University. Arkansas Business is the media sponsor of the event.
The cost of the breakfast event is $20 and registration can be made at http://arkansasbusiness.com/iea_register.asp or by calling 479-575-4151. We hope that you will take this opportunity to join with Arkansas business and community leaders to promote a prosperous future.
The Center for Business and Economic Research periodically holds Quarterly Business Analysis breakfasts.
